Who We Are

At Koh Koh Pups, we provide rescue, rehabilitation, training, and rehoming for dogs across Koh Tao. Every dog deserves access to food, medical care, safety, and the opportunity to live a happy life in a loving home.

Many of the dogs that come into our care have had difficult starts. Some have been abandoned, surrendered, born on the streets, or simply found themselves without anyone able to care for them. Our role is not only to provide immediate care but also to prepare each dog for life beyond the rescue.

Every dog that enters Koh Koh Pups receives veterinary treatment, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and ongoing health monitoring. Just as importantly, we work on building confidence, trust, and essential life skills. Through daily walks, socialisation, enrichment, training, and positive interactions with people, we help our dogs learn how to navigate the world and become well-rounded companions.

Our dogs accompany us to beaches, cafés, community events, and around the island whenever possible. These experiences help them become comfortable with new environments, people, sounds, and situations they may encounter once adopted. We believe successful adoptions begin long before a dog leaves the rescue.

Since 2019, Lara Dakers and the Koh Koh Pups team have worked tirelessly to give Koh Tao’s rescue dogs a second chance. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers, foster carers, adopters, and supporters, many of our dogs have gone on to find loving homes across Thailand and around the world, including the UK, Canada, Europe, and the United States.

This work would not be possible without the ongoing support of the Koh Tao Animal Clinic, whose veterinary team assists with medical care, vaccinations, health checks, and sterilisation programmes that help improve the welfare of dogs across the island.
