About Sadie
Adopt Sadie, a beautiful rescue dog who has overcome a difficult start in life and is now ready to find the loving family she deserves.
Sadie originally belonged to a Burmese family who struggled to cope with her energetic and intelligent nature. Like many young dogs, Sadie needed guidance, exercise, enrichment, and training to help her channel her energy positively. Unfortunately, her owners were unable to provide the time and structure she needed to thrive.
As a result, Sadie’s behaviour became increasingly difficult for them to manage. When she became excited or frustrated, she would bark and act out, which led her owners to believe she was being aggressive or naughty. Rather than understanding the reasons behind her behaviour, they began restricting her freedom. Sadie spent much of her time tied to a long chain and was often left wearing a muzzle while outside.
Without regular exercise, socialisation, or positive interaction, Sadie’s world became very small. The energetic, intelligent dog she was born to be had no outlet for her physical or mental needs. Like many dogs in similar situations, her behaviour was not the problem—it was simply the result of a dog struggling without the guidance and stimulation she desperately needed.
Eventually, Sadie’s owners reached out to us for help. They explained that they no longer felt able to care for her and were worried about her constant barking and behaviour. While her story was heartbreaking to hear, we were grateful they made the decision to seek help rather than abandon her or leave her to continue living in those circumstances.
When Sadie arrived at the rescue, she had spent over a year with very little freedom, socialisation, or affection. Understandably, she was unsure of her new surroundings at first. However, it didn’t take long for her true personality to begin shining through.
Once given the opportunity to run, explore, and simply be a dog, Sadie transformed. The dog that had been labelled difficult quickly revealed herself to be intelligent, affectionate, and eager to learn. She formed bonds with volunteers, enjoyed daily walks, and embraced every new experience with enthusiasm.
Today, Sadie is a completely different dog. She loves her walks and has excellent recall. She enjoys spending time with people she knows and trusts and has developed into a loyal and devoted companion. While she can initially be a little nervous around strangers, she warms up quickly once she realises she is safe. With patience and understanding, she forms strong relationships and loves being included in daily life.
Sadie is fully vaccinated, neutered, and in good health. She is an active dog who enjoys exercise and mental stimulation, making her an ideal companion for someone who enjoys an outdoor lifestyle and wants a dog to share adventures with.
Watching Sadie blossom has been one of the most rewarding transformations we have witnessed at the rescue. Beneath the misunderstood behaviour was always a wonderful dog waiting for someone to give her a chance. Now that chance has arrived.
Sadie is looking for a forever home where she will be treated as a valued member of the family, given the love and guidance she deserves, and never have to spend her days tied up again. In return, she will offer loyalty, companionship, and endless affection to the people lucky enough to call her their own.
