Tiger
A gentle rescue dog looking for a forever home. Once wary of people, he has blossomed into a sweet and affectionate companion ready for adoption.
About Tiger
Adopt Tiger, a gentle and loyal rescue dog who has spent years learning to trust people and is now ready to find a family of his own. While he may take a little time to warm up to new people, those who earn his trust are rewarded with an affectionate, loving companion who simply wants to be included in everyday life.
Tiger lived in the same housing compound as Tina and, for much of his life, spent his days tied on a chain of around one metre in length. When we first began visiting the area, he made it very clear that he wasn’t comfortable with people approaching him. He would bark whenever we came near and preferred to keep his distance.
Over time, we began visiting Tiger and Tina every day. Progress was slow, but little by little, Tiger started to become more comfortable with our presence. What began as simply sitting nearby gradually progressed to offering food, then gentle touches, and eventually being able to spend time close to him without causing him stress.
After several months, Tiger and Tina were moved to a different area outside the main compound. Almost immediately, we noticed a change in Tiger. He seemed much more relaxed and began allowing us to approach him far more easily. For the first time, he appeared genuinely interested in interacting with people rather than avoiding them.
As we spent more time with him, we noticed that his collar had become extremely tight around his neck. On closer inspection, part of the fastening had become embedded in the skin around his neck, creating a welfare concern that needed addressing as soon as possible.
Thankfully, after discussing the situation with the owners, they agreed to surrender both Tiger and Tina into our care.
Once at the rescue, Tiger was given the opportunity to experience a very different way of life. He quickly discovered the joys of daily walks, making canine friends, exploring new environments, and receiving regular attention from volunteers and staff. While he was understandably cautious at first, his confidence grew steadily as he settled into his new surroundings.
Today, Tiger is a completely different dog from the one we first met. The nervous dog who preferred to keep everyone at a distance has grown into a gentle, affectionate companion who enjoys being around people he knows and trusts. He still takes a little time to warm up to unfamiliar people, particularly larger men, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet nature shines through.
One of the most important relationships in Tiger’s life was with Tina. Having lived together before arriving at the rescue, the two remained close companions and spent more than a year enjoying their newfound freedom side by side. Whether relaxing together, exploring on walks, or simply sharing space, they took great comfort in each other’s company.
Sadly, in early 2026, Tina was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in May of that year. Her loss was felt deeply by everyone who knew her, and especially by Tiger, who had shared so much of his journey with her.
Despite everything he has experienced, Tiger continues to move forward with the same gentle spirit that has won over so many people at the rescue. He is now looking for a forever home where he can continue building his confidence, enjoy life at his own pace, and finally experience what it means to be a cherished member of a family.
After waiting so long for his chance, we would love nothing more than to see Tiger find a home of his own.
